Sorbitol Powder

Sorbitol Powder is one of the most popular sugar polyols used in the pharmaceutical, food, confectionery markets in Australia and globally.
Industry Use and Applications
Pharmaceutical : sorbitol is an ideal carrier in formulations to improve taste and mouth feel. It also acts as a shelf life extender.
Food and Confectionery : sorbitol is used as sweetener with a reduced calorie intake compared to sugar.

Sorbitol is a sweetener manufactured from glucose derived from starch. It is 60% as sweet as sugar and has a noticeable cooling effect in products consumed (food and pharmaceutical).

Maltitol

Maltitol is an ingredient manufactured from the natural product tapioca starch. It is a sweet product which can be used as a substitute for sugar in many applications. Of all the sugar polyols, Maltitol is the closest to sugar, both chemically and physically. Wilmar BioEthanol stocks crystalline and liquid maltitol in Australia.

Erythritol

This sweetener is 60-70% the sweetness of sugar and is manufactured from natural products : dextrose derived from non GMO corn. Wilmar BioEthanol is one of the major suppliers of erythritol in Australia and New Zealand.
We also have this sweetener available as organic. This is registered as ACO (Australian Certified Organic).

A key benefit is the FSANZ energy factor of 1 kJ/g in terms of a low calorie sweetener. It has good synergy with Stevia to enhance the flavour profile in food and beverage applications.

Stevia

This natural sweetener is derived from the leaf of the Stevia rebaudiana plant. It is 200 – 300 times sweeter than sugar and has virtually no calories. It is also GMO free and can be used in “Sugar Free” formulations. Stevia glycosides are easy to work with and are extremely heat stable, photo and pH stable under a wide range of processing and / or storage conditions.
We stock 2 grades of Stevia – Rebaudioside A 97% and Rebaudioside A 60, Steviol Glycoside 95%, but other grades are also available on request.
We also have organic stevia available – this is certified as ACO (Australian Certified Organic).

Isomalt

Isomalt is a premium bulk sweetener that has a pure, natural taste and physiological benefits such as calorie-reduction, tooth friendliness and suitability for diabetics. It provides significant body and smooth mouthfeel. Unlike other polyols, isomalt exhibits no cooling effect in the mouth.

Polydextrose

This versatile ingredient is manufactured from natural products. It is a polysaccharide which is often described as a soluble dietary fibre. The ACME grade which we stock in Australia, has a very low level of sugar (less than 2%), and is able to be used in No Added Sugar products. We also have available a standard food grade polydextrose.

These peptides, which contain amino acids, are extracted from fish scales to form a high quality powder. This is one of the highest quality collagens available in Australia.

Ribotide

What is Umami?

Flavour enhancers provide food with “umami”, which is the Japanese word for a fifth basic taste.
It was discovered during an attempt to isolate the substance responsible for the strong characteristic flavour note in dried kelp. The first umami compound discovered is today the most widely used flavour enhancer—MSG. Discovery of other ribonucleotides IMP and GMP followed. These compounds enhance the effects of naturally occurring glutamates in foods.

This is a popular flavour enhancer that is stocked here in Australia.
Hydrolysed Corn Protein (Amiflex)

This ingredient, made from natural products, is used in savoury applications. It can replace MSG or Ribotide in formulas and can be used in combination with yeast extracts. It is labeled as hydrolysed corn protein on ingredient lists and has a very low salt content compared to HVPs.
